7/8/2010 - What Can SRSP Do for You

 CELLULAR RESEARCH

Cell Lineage Determination and Tissue Homeostasis in the Aged

Agency:        National Institutes of Health

Number:        RFA-AG-11-001

Deadline:       Letter of Intent: September 7, 2010

                   Application: October 7, 2010

Mechanism:   R01

URL:             http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-AG-11-001.html

The National Institute on Aging (NIA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), invites Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to track cell lineages and to determine cell life spans in normal tissue homeostasis and in response to injury or disease in the elderly. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will support basic and applied research projects for the determination of cell life spans and cell fates in various tissues of aged mammals, specifically in humans or in model organisms (e.g., rodents, dogs or nonhuman primates). Applications will address the quantitative analysis of cell turnover rates and cell lineage tracing in one or more cell types. Such systems should be applicable to determine the age-dependent changes in cellular turnover and fates in tissues that lose function with advanced age. Thus, applications should propose to study cell lineages and turnover in healthy aging, and may also propose to study these processes in response to acute injury or other perturbations (e.g., chronic illness).

New Strategies for Growing 3D Tissues (R01)

Agency:        National Institutes of Health

Number:        RFA-HL-11-025

Deadline:       Letter of Intent: August 2, 2010

                   Application: September 1, 2010

Mechanism:   R01

URL:             http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HL-11-025.html

This FOA issued by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), National Institutes of Health, solicits Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to improve our understanding of how cells respond to their environment and to develop accurate assays and methods to understand how organogenesis may instruct the creation of functional 3D engineered cellular aggregates. Use of the multiple PI mechanism is strongly encouraged.
